Some Common Cruise Questions Answered
A lot of people are intrigued by the idea of taking a cruise, but many are confused about what they entail, what they can offer you and how much exactly they cost.
So to give you a helping hand in deciding if cruising is the right sort of holiday for you, here are a few of the most frequently asked questions about cruises.
When is the best time for me to book my cruise?
The earlier you book your cruise holiday, the more likely you are to get the ship and destinations you want. You might also find it’s less expensive if you book early enough, as cruise ships will regularly drop their prices while they’re trying to sell all the places (it’s when the ship’s nearly full they get really expensive).
What if sea-sickness ruins my holiday?
This question comes up a lot, and whilst nobody can guarantee you won’t suffer from sea-sickness, modern cruise liners tend to position themselves in the good weather and calm seas, minimising the amount this should happen. There are also numerous forms of medication that can help, although if you’re really worried you might want to look at river cruises instead. River cruises can be just as luxurious (look at Nile River cruises for a good example) and will remove the problem of sea-sickness.
Isn’t it extremely expensive?
As most people to picture a cruise and they’ll conjur up images of round-the-world trips on highly luxurious ships, imagining they cost a fortune. However the price depends on where you want to go, how long you’re planning on spending travelling, which cruise ship you choose, what time of year you go and how early you booked your holiday. There are affordable options out there and if you spend some time looking online you’ll no doubt find luxury cruise deals in your price range.
Is there much to do on-board the cruise ship?
This seems to be a common concern amongst first time cruise ship travellers. Many people assume that there’ll be very little to do on the cruise ship. This just isn’t true however, as the majority of big cruise ships now have a massive variety of things to do and see, including restaurants, bars, gyms, theatres, shopping, bowling, swimming, tennis and a whole host of other activities.
